I talk a lot about personal planet compatibility on Astrology Island, but I tend to avoid focusing on Sun signs.
This is because I think Sun sign compatibility is overrated, and not the most important part of a connection, or what you should be checking for first.
However this is not to say it’s totally irrelevant, and while other personal planets may hold more weight, Sun sign compatibility does play into your overall connection.
In the upcoming posts we’ll be going into all options for Sun sign compatibility, but first lets cover what the Sun actually represents.
What is the Sun sign?
Newbies to astrology might use the term ‘star sign’, but your star sign is actually your Sun sign.
The Sun is your shining light that stands out above all else. It’s your life-force energy, and what’s most noticeable about you, which is why it gets a lot of attention.
The Sun rules the sign of Leo in astrology, and so the Sun feels at home in Leo. Leo is the superstar and celebrity of the zodiac, so Leo and the Sun were made to stand out and grab attention. Leo also represents popularity and all things mainstream, so how interesting is it that the planet that rules Leo gets all the attention?
Your Sun sign is important because it’s closely linked to how other people see and perceive you. It’s the energy you radiate, and what others pick up on. While the Sun, or any planet, does not represent the totality of you, it still plays a core role in your personality.
