Venus retrograde is over! Venus retrograde has a reputation for ending relationships as it’s a time for reevaluation, which can often lead to couples deciding to break up, but can sometimes lead to exes getting back together too.
It isn’t considered favourable to get back with an ex during Venus retrograde, but there have been rumours of Maya Jama and Stormzy being back together for a while now, so I think it’s safe to assume they’ve been back since before the retrograde started, but just decided to announce the news recently.
They confirmed the rumours by stepping out in public during the Venus and Mercury (amongst many other planets) retrograde, which is reminiscent of bringing something back from the past.
Before getting into Maya Jama and Stormzy’s astrology compatibility, lets take a look at some of the unintentional (or maybe intentional, who knows) astrology references in Stormzy’s music.
Stormzy has lyrics like ‘I love the way you shine girl’ and ‘Oh, girl, you’re shining’, inspired by Maya. As a Leo Sun (the Sun’s home sign), Maya has an especially radiant energy which could literally make her look like she’s shining.
He also has a song Firebabe, and Leo is a fire sign.
Leo is the sign of royalty, and Stormzy sings ‘Queen in your city, they need to crown you’ as well as ‘Heavy is the head that wears the crown’ about himself, and he’s a Leo too.
With Maya and Stormzy both being Leo Suns, a double Leo couple is bound to attract attention. Leo was born to stand out, and they’re both huge names in their fields.
Leo is highly playful and childlike, and Maya and Stormzy share this as the sign of their personality, so they could both have a silly side where they don’t take themselves too seriously. When a couple have the same Sun sign it can often be like looking in the mirror and seeing a reflection of themselves, and Maya and Stormzy could find they have seemingly random things in common as their outlooks on life are the same.
There could be a part of both of them that loves the spotlight and being the center of attention as Leo has high levels of self esteem. This sign sees itself as being the best and deserving of recognition, so it could feel natural or normal for them to be celebrities.
But Sun signs are just the surface level, and Moon signs give a deeper insight into who Maya and Stormzy really are behind the personas they show the world. Both of their Moon signs are in Scorpio, so they have another direct match, which could make them feel scarily alike at times.

Scorpio squares Leo, meaning Scorpio and Leo’s priorities clash. While Leo loves being center stage, Scorpio is a deeply private sign that doesn’t want anyone knowing anything about them.
So there’s this energy of wanting to be famous on the outside (the Sun), while resenting being famous on the inside (the Moon), because of the invasion of privacy fame brings.
Leo will naturally attract attention which in the world of being a celebrity nowadays comes with paparazzi, gossip, and clickbait stories. This type of energy infuriates Scorpio who wants to keep a tight circle and not have intimate details (and sometimes outright lies) shared publicly about them.
Maya and Stormzy both have this internal battle happening on an individual level, where they could feel a push and pull between wanting to be famous and wanting to be private. So when they meet, it could feel like meeting someone who deeply understands their struggle and feels the exact same way.

What’s interesting about their dynamic is the Sun is in rulership in Leo, meaning it likes being there. But the Moon is in detriment in Scorpio, meaning it struggles in this placement. Together this can suggest on the surface Maya and Stormzy look like they live the ideal life, but underneath can both struggle with dark emotions and traumas no one sees.

In Vossi Bop, Stormzy raps ‘If you knew my story you’d be horrified’, so it’s likely he has equally painful stories too. Maya and Stormzy can find they relate to each other in ways no one else can, which allows them to be each other’s safe space to talk about their deepest emotions and trust they’ll be understood.

The Moon sign is what someone needs to feel safe, and with Maya and Stormzy having the exact same needs, they’re likely to find a sense of comfort and safety in each other. With Scorpio being the sign of privacy, knowing they’re both on the same page about the importance of privacy (especially being such public people), could really bond them.
Moon conjunctions often create a connection so authentic and raw that’s hard to replicate, so they could both feel there’s something truly special about this relationship.

Venus gives insight into a person’s ideal relationship, and Maya is a Libra Venus while Stormzy is a Gemini Venus. These are both air signs, and air rules communication.
Their shared air Venuses suggest they both have a need for humour and banter in a relationship, and because of their Scorpio Moons, the light hearted energy of their Venuses could be a welcome escape from their heavy emotions sometimes.
Being Leo Suns with air Venuses, both Maya and Stormzy have funny, cheeky, and carefree sides to them, and it’s important they get to express that.
They create a perfect balance together, as they can both be serious and playful, so they can understand and relate to each other from different angles.
Having compatible Venuses suggest it feels natural for Maya and Stormzy to be in a relationship, as Venus represents values and the air signs get along well, which translates to having very similar values.
